Boosting Teaching & Grades on Finance & Decision-making

This brand-new course targets teachers of A Level and IB Business. It will be invaluable for those who have never taught these topics before (think decision trees & CPA as well as accounts and investment appraisal) but also for those who have never felt comfortable with their own teaching. Ian Marcouse’s thesis with these subject areas is simple: good teaching means getting on top of the numbers so that one can discuss the big strategic implications of topics such as Critical Path – to succeed at the 12+ mark questions. This course is suitable for teachers of AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas Business A Level, plus the International Baccalaureate.

Edexcel Business Pre-Released Task for 2020

Ian has had a lot of experience researching, writing and analysing case material. Furthermore, he’s written more than 40 A Level exam papers and can therefore see how the pre-released material relates to exam questions. He’ll prepare Powerpoints, case studies and plenty of mock exam questions and mark schemes/answers based on the 2019 task. All the materials will be on the complimentary memory stick – handed to those doing the full day course and posted to those taking it online. The plan is simple: help your students to get better results and stop you getting side-tracked by the research required. The 2020 task is turned into a revision programme.

Plenty of exam questions and student answers are looked at to establish the right level – A Level.

Delegates receive a memory stick with a wealth of Ian Marcouse’s resources.

All 5 sessions will be recorded and available for repeat viewing/reminder (with no charge) until June 2021.

An unsolicited email from a 2019 delegate:

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the last 3 days, I have learnt so much and look forward to taking everything I have learnt into the class room.”

– Jessica Hyland, Northgate School

Starting to Teach Economics A Level 3 Day Course

This course is a serious attempt to prepare teachers to deliver Economics for the first time. It includes direct instruction on 8 ‘toolkit’ topics such as market failure, AD/AS analysis, monetary and development economics. We divide delegates into 2 groups: boffins and beginners. Run by expert economics teachers including Ian Marcouse. The 2019 Memory Stick contained 800MB of classroom materials.

The course is perfect for:

  • Business teachers starting to teach Economics for the first time (or first time in ages)
  • Teachers switching from other subjects (in recent years, from French, from Geography and from P.E.!)
  • Fresh graduates, PGCE or Teach Firsters who need to understand the exact right level for high grades
